Welcome to News Section
In this section you will find the latest news about Eurocase.
It’s name is UNI, a sensitive tablet that interprets sign language and turns it into text and audible voice, produced by Motion Savvy together with the Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York.
Through Leap Motion sensors, the device reads the movement of the hands and decodes it to be heard or read.
"It will give deaf people the ability to live the lifestyle they want, both for school children and adults in their jobs" says CEO Ryan Hait-Campbell.
One of the challenges of Motion Savvy was to overcome that sign language is a complex form with its own colloquialisms and geographical differences, so that the main difficulty was to get a digital dictionary for all.
So far, the company has a database of 300 signs, but this is far from his goal. "We look forward to next year, at launch, having 30,000 to 50,000 signs" hopes Hait-Campbell, currently seeking capital through a Indiegogo campaign.
"We're starting with tablets, but in reality, our primary focus is mobile phones" comments the CEO and points that in future mobile come to have two cameras in an embedded side, as the UNI has, to achieve more accuracy in reading the signs.
