Reading is one of the most valuable skills that children can acquire and the digital era allows turning it into a creative and shared task.
David Messer, director of the Faculty of Education at the UK Open University (OU), ensures that theApps for reading "not only provide a basis for learning in children, but also enable parents to participate in creative story telling activities."
Messer participated in "Our Story", a pioneering application in this field, adaptable to different levels of ability children from one year old and up, which allows creating custom stories, images and games.
"The use of familiar images and known scenarios help children to relate to the content and undertakefurther learning," he says.
There are many reading Apps available in the virtual market, developed to measure the digital natives.
Learn letters, read the first syllables or recognize objects with written name are some of thepossibilities that give the applications available and that take the most of its interactivity for intuitiveand entertaining learning.
Some are themed (animals, crafts, colors, food), with extra stimuli (music, ringtones, funny pictures),and the most diverse tools for learning (multiple choice, puzzles, through song, by association, etc.).
