Who are the pedagogues behind TABI

Cristina Rodrigues and Susan De Angelis lead the team in charge of thinking and launching TABI’s educative content, integrating the resources the tablet offers to the early education level and assisting teachers in their use, throughout didactical guides the device offers.

Eurocase’s pedagogues have an ample experience in creating novelty solutions to integrate Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to the classroom, and both of them incorporate their own particular expertise as consultants of the TABI Project.

Cristina is Subdirector of Education, responsible for the Project of Digital Educative Technology of the Vicente López Municipality’s Secretariat of Education, and is in charge of the creation and development of didactical and pedagogical content and design of the educative technology portal Entramar.

She is a Normal Sup teacher, preschool and infant teacher, informatics teacher, a professional of Education with IT and communications, Licentiate in Initial Education USAL, Google Certified Teacher and teacher specialist in superior level in Education and ICT of the Ministry of Education of Argentina, as well as consultant and trainer for the University of Buenos Aires in Audiovisual Media and ICTs, among other jobs and tasks she developed along her career.

Susan, on the other hand, is an Early Education level teacher, Licentiate in Education, professor in the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), and, currently, she coordinates the program “The new technologies in teacher practices”, dependant on the Centre of innovations in technology and pedagogy of the UBA.

In her vast curriculum, other tasks can be found such as Pedagogical responsible technician of the program “Infancias en red” (Childhoods on the web) and in charge of the project “Salas con TICs” (Classrooms with ICTs) in the same program, resident in the educative portal Educared Argentina, and was selected for EDULEARN15 because of her work titled “The profound design of apps and educative proposals for children aged 2 to 6 based on digital tablets: The TABI Case”.

What is the main input of Cristina and Susan to Project TABI?

“One of our tasks,” Explains De Ángelis. “consists on thinking and putting forward apps according to the curricular areas with which the educative system organizes teaching in Initial Level, taking into account the developing abilities that is necessary to stimulate in the young ones, the difficult topics, the interactive and multimedia possibilities that TABI offers and the themes that most enthuse the children”.

“We also participate,” She adds, “In the design of the apps to make them fun, educative and appropriate to the evolutive level of the recipient children, and we develop didactical guides to orientate teachers, proposing activities and ideas that allow them to expand their usual proposals for the class or to generate new proposals, even the evaluation”.

When describing the benefits of incorporating TABI to the classrooms, the pedagogues pinpoint “Its easy and safe navigability, its portability and firmness, its intuitive use, the 40 default apps, the kid-friendly surrounding that forms once you turn it on, and the possibility to easily schedule when the kids can use it or not”.

Besides remarking the possibility TABI offers to create practice virtual communities, Rodrigues underlines the ubiquity in education that the device enables.

“That characteristic,” She explains. Enables going beyond the weekly space of the technology class, and extending its use to the classroom and other surroundings thanks to its versatility and easy carriage, that grants the teachers multiple pedagogical possibilities and significant learning, relevant to our children”.

Convinced of their bet, the Eurocase pedagogues incite the Initial level schools to incorporate TABI demonstrating that “it is thought for teachers by teachers, as an innovative resource of teaching the digital natives”.
