The TABI DAYS started in schools of Buenos Aires

With a demonstration in the Arlene Fern school, in the Buenos Aires’ neighborhood of Belgrano, the TABI DAYS began, where head-teachers, teachers and students can try out the TABI Project in their classrooms and see how easy and friendly it is to integrate technology to Early Education.

The object is to offer a space for teachers and head-teachers to experience the integration of ICTs to the classroom, get acquainted with the device, its environment and get to know the set of pedagogical apps and their practical guides according to the school’s curricle.

On the other hand, the idea is to generate an exploring environment so that children can play freely and discover those functions more interesting according to their personality, age and abilities.

With those motivations, the Eurocase team took 25 TABIS to the Arlene Fern school for teachers and 4 year-old students have their own experience.

Many kids were surprised with having, for a short while, a tablet for their use only: “My mom doesn’t let me touch her computer because she works with it so I always use her tablet”, said one of them. “The touch is super easy, much better than the mouse”, concluded other.

Sitting in a circle, with Paula’s –the TABI teacher- coordination, and Lucila’s –the school’s ICTs teacher- supervision, the children worked with the app “Sort and Recycle” in two of the classrooms. First they put their recycle knowledge to test and then they applied it to the game on the tablet and all their functions.

In another classroom, the children discovered the app “Avatar Maker”, talked about the jobs and professions, respecting clothing, the seasons and other characteristics of the place where they live with their teachers and then they could make their own characters, dress them, give them a voice and unravel the secrets of the app.

The teachers were very excited with the pedagogical guides of activities that come with each app and the possibilities of applying them to the lessons, according to the school’s curricule. One of them, not a fan of technology, was pleasantly surprised with “how easy it is to use and understand it”, and highlighted the fact that comes with 40 default apps that do not need internet to function.

The students were also fascinated with a tablet designed especially for them, its colors and format. “Can I take it home?” asked shamelessly one of them. “It’s amazing, very fun”, thanked another.

After a closing talk with the teachers, the Eurocase team left the school happy to be able to offer TABI to the schools and personally test the children’s adaptability to learning with technology, and the teacher’s joy of adding an ally to the teaching process.
