Kids enjoy creating and inventing characters in their tablets, that is why in Eurocase we have designed a special app to potentiate this fun activity, with which the teachers can also work in the classroom notions of social sciences and other disciplines.
The teaching of the social sciences in Early Education must give the children the opportunity to apprehend more about the environment in which they live. However, the didactical work does not begin from zero, given the kids enter kindergarten with their own ideas of the social world, concepts and representations that they have constructed from their interaction with the daily surroundings where they grow up.
Thought by Eurocase’s pedagogues, Avatar Maker is a leisure, active and creative space for the exercise of these notions in K3, K4 and K5, since they offer an environment for character creation through picking elements that enable giving different facial expressions, physical characteristics and identity features.
The children can choose attires and combine them in the most appropriate way according to the different physical and temporal scenes, and can also write about them and listen to it through the app’s character.
This way, building avatars can turn into a way of working concepts such as diversity and context, by engaging the character creating with the different environments, both labor and geographic, known-daily and also unknown.
It also offers the possibility to work with the seasonal changes to reflect on how the characters’ clothes change according to the place where they live and the activities of the people dealing with the necessities the climate changes generate.
The voicing the app brings presents a plus that increments the motivation towards learning and offers a unique opportunity to the stimuli of oral language and contrast between the written and the spoken, contributing to the development of the alphabetizing process as well.
This app, like all the rest from TABI, comes with a practical guide with didactical tools that seek to promote its integration to the classrooms in an easy and friendly way, combined with activities carried out with other materials and supports. Because in TABI we believe the integration of the apps to the didactical proposals is a key factor to potentiate the learning of children.
